Location: Doha, Qatar
Work Schedule: 5 days per week (40 hours/week)
Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts covering 24/7 operations, including on-call responsibilities.
Overview
The IT Systems & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, administering, and maintaining the organization’s hybrid IT infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on-premises environments. The role focuses on ensuring the availability, security, scalability, and performance of enterprise systems while supporting business-critical services.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, storage technologies, backup and disaster recovery, and enterprise system operations. The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to deliver reliable IT services while adhering to operational procedures and service-level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Administration
- Administer Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform resources, including compute instances, virtual machines, managed databases, storage services, networking components, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure following organizational standards and best practices.
- Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize costs, performance, and scalability.
- Support cloud migration initiatives and hybrid cloud deployments.
Systems Administration
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services.
- Administer Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 services.
- Maintain virtualization platforms and virtual machine environments.
- Deploy new servers and perform operating system upgrades and patch management.
- Maintain server health through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.
Storage, Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Administer cloud and on-premises storage platforms.
- Configure and maintain backup solutions and recovery procedures.
- Monitor storage utilization and implement capacity planning.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing, validation exercises, and business continuity planning.
Monitoring & Performance Optimization
- Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, and resource utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks and proactively implement corrective actions.
- Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- Generate operational reports covering system health, utilization, security, and performance metrics.
Incident & Operations Support
- Respond promptly to production incidents.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and restore services within SLA targets.
- Participate in shift rotations and scheduled on-call support.
- Follow operational procedures and change management processes.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security best practices across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
- Apply operating system and application security patches.
- Work closely with the Information Security team to ensure compliance with organizational security policies.
- Support vulnerability remediation activities.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate documentation covering:
- Infrastructure architecture
- System configurations
- Standard operating procedures
- Disaster recovery documentation
- Operational runbooks
- Asset inventories
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in enterprise systems administration.
- Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Strong understanding of:
