IT Network & Security Engineer

Position Details

Employment Type: Full-Time (Outsourcing Contract)
Location: Doha, Qatar
Work Schedule: 5 days per week (40 hours/week)
Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts covering 24/7 operations, including on-call responsibilities.


Overview

The IT Network & Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and supporting the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role includes managing Cisco-based networking infrastructure, firewalls, VPN technologies, wireless networks, load balancing, cloud networking services, and secure connectivity.

The successful candidate will ensure the availability, performance, resilience, and security of enterprise networking services while supporting business continuity and adhering to organizational security standards.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Network Administration

  • Deploy, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise networking infrastructure.
  • Manage Cisco Nexus 7000, Cisco Catalyst 3850 and 9300 switches, Cisco ACI, and enterprise switching platforms.
  • Configure and maintain wireless LAN controllers and wireless infrastructure.
  • Perform firmware upgrades and network maintenance activities.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure maximum availability.

Network Security

  • Configure, administer, and maintain enterprise firewall solutions including:
    • Cisco Firepower (FTD)
    • Cisco ASA
    • Palo Alto
    • Fortinet
  • Implement firewall policies and security rules.
  • Perform security hardening and configuration reviews.
  • Support network segmentation and access control initiatives.

VPN & Remote Connectivity

  • Deploy and maintain Cisco AnyConnect remote access VPN.
  • Configure Site-to-Site VPN connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot VPN-related connectivity issues.
  • Ensure secure remote access for users and branch offices.

Load Balancing & High Availability

  • Configure and administer F5 Load Balancers.
  • Optimize application traffic distribution.
  • Ensure redundancy and high availability across enterprise services.

Identity & Access Control

  • Administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Implement network access control policies.
  • Configure authentication and authorization services.
  • Support secure endpoint onboarding.

Cloud Networking

Manage networking services within Microsoft Azure, including:

  • Virtual Networks (VNets)
  • Network Virtual Appliances (NVAs)
  • Subscriptions
  • Regions
  • Network connectivity
  • Routing

Manage networking services within Google Cloud Platform, including:

  • Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)
  • Cloud Load Balancing
  • Cloud Armor
  • Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP)
  • Secure cloud connectivity

Monitoring & Operations

  • Monitor enterprise network infrastructure using diagnostic and monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewall, wireless, and connectivity issues.
  • Respond to incidents and restore services within agreed SLAs.
  • Participate in shift rotations and on-call support.
  • Generate network health and utilization reports.

Documentation

Maintain comprehensive documentation for:

  • Network topology
  • Firewall policies
  • VPN configurations
  • Network diagrams
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Asset inventory
  • Disaster recovery documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise Cisco networking environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Routing and Switching
    • Enterprise LAN/WAN
    • Wireless Networking
    • Firewalls
    • VPN Technologies
    • Network Security
    • Load Balancing
    • Cloud Networking
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong understanding of application transport and networking protocols.

  • Microsoft AZ-900
  • Microsoft AZ-700

(Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.)
